Would doing this then end up erasing your skype ID and making it windows
live only, or could people still use the same name instead of my @msn.com
email address.

sign out of skype.
tab over until you see something like log in with your windows live id.
click on that
I don't remember how it works, but
I think it has you sign into your windows live account, then asks if you
want to merge that with your skype account. If you say yes, it will ask
you for your skpe id. Of course, it's been awhile since I did it, so I
might be wrong. But I am sure about signing out, and tabbing across the
sign in dialog box.

I use JAWS 10 with the scripts, and I personally do not like how
Messenger
and Skype are together, at least for now. Primarily, you are not able to
distinguish the online status of the Messenger contacts. And secondly, it
looks like the connection is not permanent. What I hope is that in a
future
version of Skype all of this will be fixed, so that MSN and Skype will be
used together in a more correct way and so Windows Live death will not
force
us to close our MSN accounts.
