The question is that which operating system you are using?
If you are using skype for windows, then you can make it by your own self by
clicking tool/option/advance/hot key.

Oh speech recognition. have been asked by some sighted what
speech recognition I'm using. they honestly don't know the
differents. it wasn't until after pandora was launched that
someone noticed that blind couldn't use it well. it is
better with browsers that use HTML 5 but it still has
drawbacks. in my pandora the list of stations reads as a
list. no lingks buttons or anything to change it on the
fly. I've found a workaround using NVDA the skip that track
command is the right arrow. have found that on NVDA add the
alt key and you can skip. it doesn't work on all commands
the thumbs down which is the minus key doesn't work and the
alt left arrow will go back to the previous page you were on
not the previous track so likely it takes you out of pandora
back to the start page of the browser. on searches the
workaround is if you search for an artist by typing in that
artist and just hit enter without tabbing over if a result
is there it will automaticly create a new station but only
if the artist has a single result. there is no visible
create station showing in the search results. this was all
because screen readers which most of us use are third party
programs. with the mac, the screen reader was built into
the operating system so a pandora for example for the mac
takes into account how a screen reader is designed. this
was why GW micro developed GW connect in the first place
because skype when updated gets some change in it's
functionality. this version the latest is the clunkiest
most bulky I've seen. You had to tell it to make itself
more accesible. I know of sighted people who don't know how
to listen to a voicemail in fact, I don't know how either.
also can't figure out why on some of my contacts it says
unread messages... the other reason why voiceover
references won't help me much is a lot of what is done on a
mac isn't the internet. a lot of it is apps. you know that
catch phrase, there's an app for that. if we aren't careful
we will lose what access we have because the blind are to
small a minority for corporations to care about or worry
about. skype and all others are going to go where the most
people are and most people are sighted. that's why we need
lists like this one.

You never said what screen reader you are running.
skype works fine wiht nvda and others outside the box. you
just need patience to use it. I can use skype in the mac
with voice over after they made some external improvements
to the program
a around after you hit the search button, or start
typing in the contact table list the name you want. From
there you should be good to go.
Skype is getting more and more stream lined in my
opinion. It's a learning curve but if we all take the time,
we can all without scripts or with miniminal scripting work
use the interface.

Hi skyp users have enabled the search for
contacts but don't see a search button, jst the clear button
andwhen I try enter without hitting a button nothing
happens. I'm telling you skype is clunkier and clunkier by
the day. we are going to lose what access we have if we
aren't careful. how do you search for contacts by name email
or skype name. nothing happens and there is not search
button. even when I have enabled that hot key. an idea
would some kind of mobile app be more accessible for a blind
user the same way the mobile facebook sight is used as an
alternative to the standard skype?
