In the past people have pointed out on this list that the update you mention is an important security update which would leave a computer vulnerable if uninstalled. Personally I wouldn't feel very comfortable with uninstalling such an update, plus the method of uninstallation seems a little elaborate for novice computer users.
I get around this problem by quitting my screen reader, then loading Skype from the desktop. To do this. 1. Go into control panel and choose Windows update. 2. If you need to click the link that says check for updates. 3. When it says 1 important update is available, press Enter. 4. In the list that appears highlight that 1 update and press the applications key. 5. Click hide update. I hope this message is useful for some of you.
