Heres how to get rid of them in Skype 7.1 for Windows, without spending any money or having to do anything very complicated. Go into the Tools menu in Skype, then into Options, then arrow down to Privacy Settings. Then tab down to the dialogue, and hit the Show Advanced Options button. In the new dialogue this button opens, there is a checkbox saying something like Show Targeted Ads: make sure this is unchecked. Im pretty sure these instructions work for earlier Windows Skype versions. I hope this helps!
