First may I say thanks and double thanks for all the very useful comments
re virus protection potentially messing our screen readers up.
To the person wanting to know about XP virus protection,
The tech who first alerted me to the conflicts between JAWS and Avast told
me that he has been using "Vipre" for 5 years with no trouble.
But "Vipre" is an annual fee based solution and because of that may not be
affordable to many in the blind community which as you know is not the most
economically empowered demographic in the world!
I do apologize for taking the forum off strictly Skype issues, but as I
first mentioned there very well could be a virus protection component to
some of our issues with Skype.
Also now someone mentioned Malware, please don't tell me that could be a
problem also!?! LOL

I to am using mse. And i love it. It runs fine in my vertual machine
with 1 gig of ram wind windows 7 all updates applied. It does not
interfeer with nvda. If you are on a mac i recommend clamxav as you can
exclude aplications it might pick up as viruses.

Yesterday a high level JAWS tech user told me that recent upgrades in some
of the anti virus software could be the cause of some of our issues because
of the way screen readers work it sees a screen reader as a potential
possible threat.
I'm currently using Avast and he did say that Avast is for sure on that
list, so now I need your help again.
What are you all using for virus protection that isn't messing up your
screen reader and that's also blind friendly to use?
