Ellington, estou conectado perfeito e sem WICD, que era o objetivo, seguindo o que indicou, sobretudo depois da correção do wpa_supplicant.conf com a inserção das linhas que enumerou. Só falta agora colocar para a conexão ficar automatica na inicialização. Valeu!
