Hello Takeshich, the PS3 otherOS environment may not be the best choice to run second life. The system is essentially virtualized under a hypervisor, and direct acces to the graphics hardware is not intended by sony. Any attempt to access this directly is bound to be blocked in future firmware revisions. The only way to access the screen in a supported way is through a frame buffer device.
Using the Cell Engine for number crunching may also have its drawbacks, since these are great vor vector processing, but lack most of the features of dedicated GPU's. And last but not least, this thing has only 256 MB main memory, not expandable. I think if you ever get SL performing nicely on the PS3, it's higly likely not under Linux, but on the GameOS system with help of a PS3 SDK. -- Best regards, Thomas mailto:[email protected]
