It's not available in LSL, which was, of course, the subject of the cited feature req JIRA. That's why Lex put his off-grid service up, to map region names to UUIDs. But Philip held forth at one point on how expensive it was to have this stuff in the asset server...but now you're telling us it's still there. Hmmm. Something is going on here, and I may not have good (or maybe "complete") information. The Subnova server is currently serving UUIDs for textures that are (at least in the case of my region, "Harrington", a lot more recent than I would expect given the announcement that everything was going to go static when the new maps went up. Maybe something's been done to address this, and the word just hasn't gotten out.
