That is interesting question. I guess people have used to fixed primitive limits - but not yet used to thinking about fixed memory. > I do have one question, which I may have missed answers to before..... > How will a resident who has 23k left in their parcel know which of the 5 > different security devices will run without issue on their parcel ? > Will we be able to see the memory usage somehow before purchase ? Currently how primitive counts checking is done is that honest vendors allow us to count primitives by previewing their goods. For example in good furniture shop, furnitures are available for viewing and testing - and counting primitives is easy then. However, in proposed system it is not possible to see how many bytes of memory furniture is using in shop (or any object owned by another resident).
Either we need new permission for objects "allow anyone to see memory usage" or some kind parcel setting that allows anyone to see objects memory usage. Also xstreet and other out-of-world marketplaces need to update their systems so that vendors can list their products memory usage. > Thanks for reading, and please don't shoot me down in flames unless you > provide a fluffy pillow to land on :) > > Flames? EEEK! I was prepared to poison/chemical/biological attack. I don't think that wearing latex catsuit and gasmask is good idea then... _______________________________________________ Policies and (un)subscribe information available here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/SLDev Please read the policies before posting to keep unmoderated posting privileges
