hi oliver

*please* follow the proper process.

if slide feels mature enough now to make it's own way in the world as a top level ASF project (perhaps under the dav.apache.org banner) then the standing policy of the jakarta-pmc is to give you whatever support we can in this endeavour. but so long as you're here in jakarta it's *very* important that slide follows the jakarta rules and procedures.

believe it or not, these have actually been set up for your benefit! the ASF offer a degree of legal protection for committers but the ASF (and jakarta) can only do this if you respect the rules and processes we've set up.

please read:

http://jakarta.apache.org/site/roles.html
http://jakarta.apache.org/site/newbie.html
http://www.apache.org/dev/committers.html

the jakarta pmc needs to receive confirmation from martin before proceeding to account creation. the right way to get things moving is to cc the jakarta-pmc with a [RESULT] email for the election thread so that someone can email the appropriate letter out on behalf of the pmc.
