Hi James,

great that you get this started!

I have the client parts of the distribution ready, but I've hit a few
snags :).

1) Oliver, can you give the apcvs group write access to
/www/cvs.apache.org/dist/jakarta/slide so I can post the files to
review?

Sorry for that. Should work now.

2) The filenames for the 2.1b1 server download contain the word
"server", but the build targets leave that bit out. Should I modify the
build script or just rename the files?

Maybe modifying the build script would be best.

3) What are we doing about the Tomcat bundle? Specific instructions
would be good here :). Which version of Tomcat and which build target. I
grabbed the 5.0.28 release and ran the jaas-deploy-tomcat-5 target. One
thing I noticed is that there is no startup.sh file to patch. I just
want to be sure I'm doing this correctly.

Hmmm. All this seems to be right to me. 5.0.28 with jaas-deploy-tomcat-5. Worked fine for me. There certainly is a startup.sh in my bin directory and it does get patched. What is your problem? Is it simply not there? Or did it just not get patched? Note that for the patch command in ant you will need to have a working "patch" command from the prompt! Are you on windows?

Concering the projector. It used to be part of the bundled Tomcat distributions, but recent comments from Daniel indicated, it might be better to skip it for the 2.1 release. I just sent an email for confirmation to him, but he did not answer, yet...

4) Where should I put the testsuite distribution, src or bin?

Ah, the testsuite! Great that you take care of it! I'd say this is bin.

Sounds fine. Still waiting to see that Daniel updates the Projector installation to the new JAAS distribution. I'd recommend to put the distributions on

http://cvs.apache.org/dist/jakarta/slide/2.1b2

(without linking it anywhere for now) for everyone to inspect. Additionally, we need a result mail of this vote which must be cc'ed to the PMC...

And by the wy, folks, what about the updated release notes. Still could not detect any activity :(

+1 from me.

I can try to put together a release this weekend for Oliver to review. I'm having wisdom teeth pulled tomorrow, so by the time Sunday rolls around I should be going nuts looking for something interesting to do.

Hi all,
we have recently fixed a lot of bugs and had some other changes too.
So it would be good to have a new release to get some feedback from
our users.

The tests I get now running are
- functional
- DELTAV
- BIND
all with store: txfile, jdbc with sqlserver (with and without binding)

Thats a good state for Beta 2, I think.

What do you think?

Stefan
