For me this problem vanished, when I switched from FileDescriptorsStore to JDBCDescriptorsStore and Postgres. I guess, the reason is proper transaction handling. Since MySQL 3.x does not implement transactions, Ryan may have the same problem. Look into mysql directly for objects with name "New Folder" or something like that. How does MS Explorer call new folders in a english Windows installation? Slide filesdescriptor store does not allways cleanup properly. We had to remove this entries by directly accessing the store.
