I definitely agree with James. Expend a bit of effort now to get a current release out, along with a simple plan of what's to come (if even an announcement of a documentation project!). I can start a plan for a documentation effort - would do a getting started / tutorial guide first.
Seems that this is the minimal amount of work required to get some very substantial momentum going on the project. Also, we are currently building a Document/Content Management System on top of Slide - calling it Project Ginsu for now (although have seen some other things with that name). Eventually, we would be happy to contribute as a reference CMS implementation that uses Slide. -----Original Message----- From: James Higginbotham [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, March 20, 2003 9:38 AM To: Slide Users Mailing List Subject: RE: Match+Gas = Slide status (was: newbie question about slide future) Remy and Jeremy, > To do a release, we need a release manager to > propose/build/upload the > release(s). Assuming that the testsuite is an indication of codebase sanity, then this should help us determine if the current CVS tips are stable enough for a release. If they aren't, get them running 100% and submit any patches. Remy - once Jeremy (et. al.) gets the testsuite passing, can you authorize him or someone else as a commiter and get them to do a release? This simple act of getting a new release may be just a simple task, but I believe it will help generate some renewed interest in the product, especially if its announced to javalobby, theserverside, javachannel, et. al. This may bring more folks here, more hands to assist in any new features, docs, etc. and take some of the load off the original commiters who are being hammered right now with other things.
