Thanks for your prompt help James. I should have read the
configuration section carefully before asking the question :-(

I am able to connect to http://localhost:8080/slide/ in  slide client,
DavExplorer but can't use the same URL in Open as WebFolder in IE and
Explorer. (I am using Windows 2000 Professional and IE 6.0)

Is this a known problem or can I do something to get it to work?
