As for making the root context webdav enabled, you should be able to mount Slide as the root webapp. If you're using the Slide/Tomcat bundle edit conf/server.xml and set path="" for the Slide <Context> node. If you're using the webapp bin just renaming the slide folder to ROOT should be enough. Note that you could have naming conflicts with other webapps on the same app server if you do this.

This particular problem seems to be caused by the bug options-req-against-root --> When using the Internet Explorer "open" dialog and checking the "open as webfolder" checkbox, Explorer first accesses the root of the server instead of the specified URI. Therefore, opening a webfolder will fail unless the root of the namespace indeed is WebDAV-enabled.
Any idea how to make the root WebDAV-enabled ?

I am able to connect to http://localhost:8080/slide/ in slide client, DavExplorer but can't use the same URL in Open as WebFolder in IE and Explorer. (I am using Windows 2000 Professional and IE 6.0)
