Correct me if I'm wrong, but the Matrox G400 is supported in recent
X's isn't it? If not, it certainly will be soon (thatnks to Matrox
being nice and openish)... John Carmack has been working on the GLX
drivers!
It's a very, very nice card. Given the opportunity with XFree4.0,
you ought to be able to use the dualhead capability, which is very
nice indeedy. Oh, and John Carmack has been helping out with the
GLX drivers, and plans to do even more!
If you've got heaps to spend, get the MAX, otherwise, you can get
normal and dualhead versions too, depending on what you want.
Matrox has always been the king of 2D, and it's 3D offerings have
been pretty good so far. Did I mention that John Carmack has been
working on the GLX drivers?
Sorry. Couldn't resist.
(I haven't played a game for years, and then Q3A and Ultima
Ascension had to come out almost simultaneously... Christmas market
shmarket...)
