Depends on what you use it for.  For web hosting, it also depends on what
you want to do.  Firstly, remember that you will only be "serving" data at
31200 or 33600 (outbound speed of 56k modem), then consider what your
downstream channel will doing.  Will you be leeching (downloading lots),
playing online games, idling, etc..?

If you are serving a small site, mainly personal stuff, then it should be
fine, even if you have medium traffic over the link.

If you want to run a large site with lots of graphics, perhaps some
Shockwave Flash, a few songs to download, etc then you are best seeking
hosting elsewhere..

Another thing you should work out is what type of "direct connection" you
are talking about..  These links aren't cheap.

Slackware/Debian for servers, SuSE for desktop.

Australian .com.au and .net.au domains are all handled my
MelbourneIT.com.au or maybe it's register.com.au, can't remember any more.
