I think the one that runs this list is Majordomo (but Anthony woul
dknow for sure). I wouldn't recommend it unless you are already using
it. If you do have installed and working but find it obscure to setup
properly there is something called `MajorCool' which implements a web
interface to Majordomo.
I'd recommend MailMan <URL: http://www.list.org/> if you are setting
up new mailling lists. It only has a web interface, which can be a
problem. Another problem is the mail archiving portion (pipermail) is
very limited compared to MHonArc.
Two other options are Smartlist and qmail ezlm neither of which I've
had extensive experience. I have tried Smartlist but it requires users
to have an account on the machine so they can administer mailling
lists. For my purposes that is bad since I run mailling lists which
are totally administered by people who do not.
I think I installed qmail ezlm once but got sidetracked and ended up
deleting it. Someone else should be able to give their experience with
it though.
