Umm, if it prints ascii pages, then it is working! In my experience,
if you now send this printer a postscript page, it will print out
quite a few pages and the first will start "%postscript" or something
similar. I've not met many printers that auto switch.
Are you saying that lpr -Pprintername some-txet-file doesn't produce
anything?
Did you set the printers up using linuxconf/the control panel or
whatever RH6.1 has? and then run the test page from there. If so and
not working, post your /etc/printcap in a message.
