Westpac Internet banking works on any 128bit encrypted
browser, but if you want to do serious banking (ie, pay your
staff, pay creditors etc) you have to use their proprietry
billware called DeskBank, so I have to use emulation. They do
*not* support anything but windows for their commercial on
line banking (non-internet).
I believe that they will be extending their internet banking
to include "third party" accounts, which might well totally
replace DeskBank. The focus group that I attended suggested
that they would be using a hardware widget as a security
device instead of the current multi-level password security
that they have on their commercial DeskBank product. I'd love
to know if any one knows anything about this system. Sounds
like an unnecessary complication to me.
The guys at this focus group didn't mention which platform,
but then it's quite likely they aren't aware of any platform
except you-know-who anyway.
BTW, despite being M$ based, their current system works well
for me. It's just annoying that they insist on selling their
soul to the devil at such a cheap price.
