ACtually this exists. It is called Port Sentry, you'll find it at
http://www.psionic.com/
This when you set it up right, will drop routes back to machines that port
scan your machine.
This would probably frustrate optus to no end, but if asked about it you
could easily claim that you where just protecting you box from abuse.
It can also (from memory) drop packets from machines that connect to your
box on ports you dont have anything running on. It can also detect all of
the odd packect scans.
It is a really good tool, and not to hard to setup.
