That's a bit of a hard line, Alexander. While I appreciate your dislike
for so-called "Winmodems" {anyone who has done tech support dealing with
dialups knows the pain}, the fact is that Winmodems are out there - and
_lots_ of people would rather pay $50 for a modem than $400 {even at $400,
people today have got it easy - but moaning about "When I was a boy" and
modem costs is counter productive. :-)}.
Do you lambast Intel in a similar manner for its cheap Celeron chips? Do
you moan about the trend towards using non ECC or non parity RAM because
it's cheaper?
These trends are part of the world we live in - and are, in large part,
responsible for the lower consumer cost of PC hardware today.
At least there's _one_ modem company who realises that not everyone uses
WindoZe with their products. And this has got to be a good thing.
