Hi All,

I have been looking up some of those suggestions for
maintaining my files on the Novel server. My Q's are at the
end.

1. Novel Client for Linux - yep found at Caldera. 85Meg
package which includes the Linux Client. Last updated ~1998
and instructions on how to install for RedHat 5.1
Highly likely I would run into lib probs getting it to run
on my RH 6.1-6.2 mishmash and thats a lota disk space.

2. rsync. Client for Linux is not a prob but is the server
available for Novel? I searched on the rsync.samba.org site
and there are precompiled bins and src code for many
platforms except Novel. A search of the bug archive found:

There were no replies or followups to this Q.
Using rsync seems a cleaner nicer way to go though.

3. ncpfs
"Description :
Ncpfs is a filesystem which understands the Novell
NetWare(TM) NCP
protocol. Functionally, NCP is used for NetWare the way NFS
is used
in the TCP/IP world. For a Linux system to mount a NetWare
filesystem,
it needs a special mount program. The ncpfs package
contains such a
mount program plus other tools for configuring and using the
ncpfs filesystem."

I have downloaded the ipx and ncpfs packages, installed OK
but not yet tried them.
The manpage for nwclient says there is an `ncpmount' command
to mount a Novel dir under a local mount directory.

Q 1: Am I correct in assuming that if I mount the Netware
dir that has my web files in it I can do a cp of an entire
directory tree to it
        eg. ncpmount -S novel-server/users/mlake /mnt/novel-local

Q 2: Does the sysadmin have to have something like NFS
operational or do something for this nwclient package to
work?

Mike
