Reminds me of the HelixCode update manager. That does most of those
things except the cron part but mind you, I haven't looked. It's a great
wee tool. You can subscribe to the annoucements mailing list so you know
when to run it or just do it randomly. I nice feature would be something
likew Windows critical update which runs in thr cron and lets you know
that there is something there. I spose you could hack something up to do
that.
