Melinda,
Can I suggest that you post your /etc/lilo.conf file to the
list, this would help us come up with a lilo.conf that should
work for you.
I had my home box in your current state (windows boots of mbr
on hda and linux on hdb boot from floppy) for ages. Had lots
and lots of problems getting lilo to work because the /boot
partition wasn't in the first 1024 blocks of hda. When I booted
with lilo on mbr of hda I would just gel LI or 80 repeated
continuously across the screen.
I eventually fixed this by using Linux to rejuggle the whole
system (tarred up the windoze partition) and repartitioned the
disk to have 1st 1000 blocks as C:\Windoze, then then 16M as
hda2 for /boot then the rest of hda as D: and the other linux
partitions on hdb. Untarred winoze back into hda1 and it worked
a treat.
I believe this limitation has been fixed in more recent distros,
does anyone else have more info.....?
Cheers
Pete
