Cable doesn't require a phone line either.
Therefore $60 vs $78

Most people who had a second phone line put in for data will drop it when they
get
cable or adsl. That alone will cost telstra a fortune in revenues.

Here's the thing I currently have 4 kids on an ethernet, accessing the net via
a 'nix box which handles nat and the modem. The modem only redials when it
gets kicked off
(once a day maybe). The phone bill on that line is about $75 per quarter.
$300 / year to the ISP - FlexIT for unlimited time /unlimited download.
Thats $50 / month for access including phone for a good qual 56K connect

Now an extra $14 dollars a month ( a few beers or two packs of cigs) gets me
Optus@Home. (or BPA Cable).

vs
ADSL Freedom Deluxe (for a comparable speed to O@H) at $89
- thats an extra $39 / month.(dinner for 2 at a cheap italian restaurant).

The renewal for Flex is due on August 27

The only reservation I have about O@H is that it will cost an extra $180 to put
the cable underground.
