Hi,
I've just installed Linux-Mandrake 7.1 on my new motherboard.
The motherboard is a Intel D815EEA with inbuilt Sound and NIC. The processor
is a Pentium III 733MHz, 133 MHz FSB with 128Mb RAM.
I have three problems with the install.
1/ Sound. The sound is reported ( by Win 2000 ) as a Intel 82801BA/BAM AC
'97 Audio Controller 2445. Linux seems completely unable to detect it!
2/ NIC. The NIC is reported as Intel Pro/100 VE Network Card ( again under
Win 2000 ). Undere Linux the card is detected but can't install and I am
presented with a page of options ( transmit and receive fifo's etc) but I
have no idea of what to fill in?
3/ C++ Headers. I purchased the Linux Mandrake 7.1 Complete which came with
an install disk and an applications CD. There is mention of an "extensions
CD" but this only came with the more expensive boxed set. My install is
"Development" as I wan't to use KDevelop 1.2 for C++ programming at home for
my University Computer Science ( which is done with CodeWarrior under Linux
at the University ). The problem is, there appears to be a large number of
header files missing from the install, most noticeably iostream.h. I can't
even compile and run the test program in KDevelop. Are the headers contained
on the extensions disk ( which I can download from the net I think ) or is
something else wrong?
Thanks for your help
Christine
