AFAICR xemacs was a fork of GNU Emacs. I'm almost certainly
wrong, tho ;-)

Components? Man, you've been spending too much time in the world
of Gnome. Although embedding a gnumeric spreadsheet into an
xemacs window would probably be about the level of feature bloat
an emacs user has come to expect ;)
