The python book I have is "Programming Python" by Mark Lutz.
You can find more information on it here:
http://www.oreilly.com/catalog/python/
I am not really knew to programming so I couldn't really say how easy it
is for a beginner.

Well there is quite a few resources at http://www.python.org.
However my brother who has just recently started programming in Python
recommends:
http://www.honors.montana.edu/~jjc/easytut/easytut/easytut.html
Which is the "Non-Programmers Tutorial for Python", which might be what you
are after.
Cheers,
Benno
