I presume you have tried without raid...
were i come from we have this thing called DOA, or dead on arrival
this is where we find something doesnt work right when we get it,
so we just send it back.
When you have 100s of pcs to clone, or servers to build etc. its
not usually worth your or my fiddling when theres a chance the
item is broken.
If its not limited to linux, i would suggest making use of the
warranty card. =)
