Everything's the same once you've learned it all before - just variations on
a theme. :) That's where the O'Reilly books are great. I wish, however, that
I was slightly closer to that level of 'oneness' with computing science Zen.

Good lord. I must be underslept:

Try PHP. If you want quick, fairly simple "database'n'webpage" stuff, PHP is
probably your quickest route. You could also simply use Python or Ruby for
CGI scripts - I wouldn't recommend mod_python, mod_snake or mod_ruby, as
then you'd have to learn more about Apache internals than just "page does
database" type things.


PHP originally stood for 'Personal HomePage', and it's *great* for doing
that sort of stuff.
