Well, Debian has had three chances here and died on all three
occassions, so far. 

Actually it has had four, but that was a nut behind the keyboard problem
(it was late, I was very tied, PCIT99 was next day and I just could not
wrap my brain around 2.0 in time to get various office apps running on
it in time for a demo).

If it is any consulation, Suse6.4 failed on the AST 486DX2/66 yesterday
as well. It finally installed, then corrupted its file system straight
up. I came to the conclusion that the box is scrap material (perhaps the
case might be useful as a concrete former {:-).
