Well you just described the things that Perl does _very_ well.

What made you think Perl was yuk? You can write in just about any
style you like that will make it look like anything else.
With so many easily installed modules it can also save you a lot of effort
in writing code as well.
Perl - The only language that looks the same before and after RSA encryption.
