debian, at least, has a rather hefty netscape wrapper script, that
sets env vars, preloads certain libraries, etc - all in the name of
stability. i don't know how effective it is, but i've found netscape
to be quite stable since switching to debian (and hence the wrapper
script).
i've seen similar scripts distributed independently - if you aren't
already using one (just have a look at /usr/bin/netscape, and see what
it actually is), then you might try one of them..
(else, try links. the newer versions are getting damn good. i now use
it for *all* my browsing, except whenever a windows user asks me to
"check out this cool site". those sites never render correctly without
javascript, flash, spacer.gifs, 1x1.gifs and whatever other lame hacks
are used by people who don't understand html)
