Why go to Debian at all? It is still a pain to use unlike SuSE
which is easy. I spent several months running Debian and despite
reading the docs and asking questions (usually getting cryptic
answers like RTFM) I was forever running into incompatibilities
and regulat lockups in X. Solved all my problems by returning to a
decent distribution. Debian is still a hackers' distribution
IMHO.
Just my 2.2C worth (inc GST)
Stay well and happy
