Hi,
I am still having trouble with the ethernet card in my HPE40. It is an
Intel Etnernet PRO 100 (aparently).
I had trouble getting it to initialise but finally got it using a generic
PCI driver from the list, ran smoothly for a while.
The next time I restarted the bootup process 'found' an Intel Ethernet PRO
100 that it had nver found before, and neither would start until I disabled
the eth1 in Linuxconf. All was well again for a while.
I have had to restart the server again, now the card won't start at all,
the bootup process gives 'insmod' as the reason. I have alternatively
enabled both versions of the card in Linuxconf so that only eth0 or eth1
was active, for the same result.
If I remove them both then the server starts without error, but of course I
have no network card enabled.
Any clues as to where to go from here would be appreciated. Given that the
card ran flawlessly for several days and the problem only occurs on a
reboot, I don't think the card is faulty.
