Yes
I hope that answers your questions..... or perhaps you misunderstood
your question.
I use dump/tar/cpio for archiving small clients. For larger instances
then I use Amanda and the obvious choice of Netbackup (oh what a
wonderful tool).
It really depends on what you are archiving and what your budget is.
For my personal choice, L1000, 2xDLT7000 and Netbackup is a hard combo
to beat (without spending silly money!).
