Hi Everyone,

I`m having problems with a PPP dialin server running Redhat 7.2, totally
fresh install - out a the box.

Firstly, I`m not a linux sysadmin expert - so please be gentle
Secondly, I`ve followed almost all the How-to stuff on the net with marginal
success?
Thirdly, I`m using an external Aopen 56k modem (stock standard thing)

The Linux machine picks up the line after I dial it using Win2k Pro, they
have a chat and eventually it seems like the linux box drops the line first
and Win2k sais Authentication error.

Upon opening a terminal after dialing in I get the Redhat 7.2 Greeting in
plain text, requesting a logon.
I logon to the machine via the terminal, and can then manualy invoke pppd
with an alias I setup in bashrc.
I then get the "normal" ppp gobbldy gook but don`t know what to do
then??????

My problem I believe is this: mgetty is not using it`s AutoPPP feature when
I try to login??? Maybe I`m not even getting logged in??? (as win2k pro
sais)

Does anyone think they can help me out with a quick fix? Possibly config
files that is working for you NOW on a similar release?

I`ve used so many different methods to do this but they all seem to render
similar results, or sometimes none at all.

Scrambling!

Thanks in advance, Alan Vink
