So, which simple were you talking about? If it's the kind of simple that
equates to:

  a) Potential contributors spending more time compiling other people's
  software than writing their own, or,

  b) Users who think "compiling software is being an elite and cool hacker"
  wasting the time of (and often flaming and harassing) developers who are
  giving their time, writing good Free Software,

Then that kind of simple is suboptimal and usability impaired [1].
