I have stopped xdm and gdm, preferring to startx when I'm ready. It's got to be to do with locale. I wanted the index in mutt to show the accented characters. So I tried a new locale, en_US.UTF8, aka en.US.UTF8. They didn't help mutt (and I don't want mutt-utf8), so I set my environment variable LANG, LC_CTYPE, and LC_ALL back to C . I've done this this assuming that locale is user specific. I once saw a SCO guru exporting account profiles (skeletons?) from an established user to a new one. I'm wondering about reversing that, from a dummy new working account to mine. Thanks, Nick (PS I'm writing from the home box where all's well. The trouble is at work). -- SLUG - Sydney Linux User Group Mailing List - http://slug.org.au/ More Info: http://lists.slug.org.au/listinfo/slug
