Thanks, Ken Foskey < [EMAIL PROTECTED] > claims in slug digest 1723 that he had Evolution crashing due to a Windows virus which was sent via corrupt message header .....
I have not been able to start in text mode. I have held down 'Alt' a number of times during boot with no result - it just goes through the usual routine. Unless better ideas surface in the next 12 hours or so, I'll start reinstalling tomorrow morning. At least I won't have lost any data. At the risk of being accused of heresy, what is GNU/Linux's version of updateable virus definitions ? Adam Bogacki P.O. It won't run at all under Linux. Not to mention the fact that evolution as an MTA is much better behaved than Outlook. It doesn't execute javascript, it sends in plaintext by default, and it definately wouldn't be affected by poorly implemented MIME routines that automagically execute attachments. Methinks you have no virus. > Unless anyone has a better idea, I'll do a re-install next week ... it's > frustrating when you intend to do to do other things. Check your distro docs to find out how to start up in text mode (without gdm) and try logging in and running startx at the console. That will probably also fail, but it'll leave error messages on the console that we can work with. -- Peter [EMAIL PROTECTED] Much human ingenuity has gone into finding the ultimate Before.
