I have an old pentium (150) that I want to use as a gateway, firewall, dialup internet, printer & scanner server. I was going to use SME, but from a quick read of the docs, it is waay beyond my requirements. I have both potato and woody on cd's, (and redhats galore). Is it more practical to run a limited install of debian (?) than SME, which would like to be a file server as well as the above functions? Other boxes on the intranet are 900, & 1200Mhz & a 266 laptop.I think the1200 would be a logical choice as a file server, as it has the most hd space .
