Hi Slug...

I have just upgraded my laptop from mandrake 8.2 to 9. all went well, no
problems at all. Except that I was hoping the upgrade would get my audio
going, but it hasnt.

The laptop is a clevo with SIS chipset, the audio device is correctly detected
as SIS 7018 and the trident driver installed, which is as far as i can tell
the way it supposed to be. But I have no sound. What does one do to remove
and reinstall the audio subsystem in linux anyway? What does ALSA have to do
with it? Any pointers gratefully received...

..S.

PS it could be just me, but i got the 9 CDs on the APC mag and found it rather
odd buying my operating system from the 7-eleven when i went to pick up some
milk and ciggies.... :-)
