Thanks. Yeah, I'd seen that but didn't have a good way of determining
whether or not it was a "voice modem", so tried my luck with the drivers
anyway. I suspect it is such a beast and won't work (even under windows
NT apparently)

So, what internal modems do play nice with linux? I heard wild rumours
that "SwannSmart" modems use Lucent chipsets, and they're relatively
cheap. Are they the way to go? I know the Lucent chipset powered modem
in my laptop works, do Lucent have linux drivers for all their chipsets?
Has anyone here actually got a winmodem to work?
