I can vouch for that comment.. I've had a Netcomm Inmodem56 PCI internal in a linux machine at my folks house for about 3-4 months now and its never caused problems. And just recently got another such modem to replace my external netcomm roadster II as I wanted to free up the power point, and have the case doing my nat more intergrated.
