You may want to consider waiting for digital TV.  Currently the cards
used in Europe don't work in Oz (the VHF transmissions use a 7MHz
bandwidth vs the European 8MHz) but there is talk of revision to
existing hardware that will support this.  The advantage of digital is
that it's already compressed, using much more professional equipment.
Not sure in Oz but in Europe you also get more channels on digital TV.
