I've no idea what the laptops are like as I have never used them 
personally (or any laptop for that matter) but an extended warranty can 
give some peace of mind.

buy with no OS, extend the warranty to 3 years (on-site warranty) and 
still save a couple of hundred dollars over a laptop with M$ installed.
