that's what I was leaning towards. and, I suspect some of my users do not
have IMAP capable client app.

oh, yes, and as to my earlier Qs 'does Squirel _need_ IMAP':

the reasons for my Qs was: I had a colleague who INSISTED he runs Squirel
with POP-ONLY, 

just now, he admited had has IMAP that he didn't know of:

I double checked, we are in fact running IMAP - it runs under the INETD
process that's why I couldn't see it.
