If you guys have electronics recycling around here, I advocate handing
off the monitor to the electronics recyclers.  They'll know the best
disposal methods for all parts of the monitor.  (Assuming they aren't
shipping it off to a horrific dystopian scrap-town in China, as some
so-called "recyclers" have been known to do.)  Monitors and other
electronics are full of heavy metals, like lead and cadmium, and
absolutely do not belong in landfills or incinerators, if it can be at
all avoided.
