Once I again I am hoist by my own subtlety. I'm not actually asking for details on this or any other package. It was meant to be spur for you to find out for yourself the facts of the matter. The very thought that any major distro would _require_ you to upgrade to whole new version of the distro to get a security fix for one package is absurd, and shows a pretty profound misunderstanding and disconnection from the whole process.
